How I See Voluntering In Craiova

After graduating from master's education, I decided to do voluntary service and set out to search for the project that would be most suitable for me. As a result of long research, I found what I was looking for in Romania in a project to support children with autism – “Unlock The World ”. With great excitement and also doubtfulness, I arrived in Romania on 10 August 2018.

Although I was given all the information by the host organization after getting off the plane, I was on my way to Craiova with a little concern. I asked people how to get to the bus station to make sure I was not on the wrong path. I was amazed by the helpfulness I have seen. Helena, whom I met on the bus, took me to the train station and showed me where to buy a ticket. Laura, whom I met on the train, introduced Craiova to me before I arrived in Craiova. Since then, I've met a lot of good-hearted people in Romania, and I think that's what I like most about this country so far.

ANCAAR, where we carry out our volunteer activity, is an organization created by the parents of children with autism. I saw how much I chose the right city and project after meeting with mothers who have children with autism and seeing how much they need our help.

Additionally this project, which brought together so many different cultures, allows me to gain a very different outlook towards life. Beside difficulties of adaptation to a new country, new culture and lifestyle, I'm happy to feel and see these advantages. #Erasmus+#Explorator
