Democracy was, still and will be one of the most assembled concept which Humanity has witnessed Democracy is strongly linked with Liberty, human rights, Public Elections, Accountability and Citizenship.
Regardless all these complicated details, at least we can be agreed on Democracy is the best tool includes processes could represent people all over their diversity, different, Categories and achieve core of Citizenship.
Recently Democracy became everywhere, eye high subsequently United Nation resolved to observe 15 September as the International Day of Democracy- with the purpose of promoting and uploading the principles of Democracy in 2007.
There are hundreds of theories explain Democracy, noticeable that most of those common theories focus on political tracks, public procedures and linked stuff as representative of minorities and we usually turn a blind eye of our personal practicing for Democracy aspects.
Democracy in simple words means "Empowerment of people to have heard voice, involve with making decisions related to their life". Achievement of these goals requests many procedures on different levels.
In this space let's focus on missed aspects in our normal, daily and routine life
For what level we have been grown up in Democratic environment, I'm not talking about public policies or features of the political Regime, let's shine light on our small places like Family, School and sportive club.
In our family how we feel we have small authority to participate in making public decision related and affects on my life
Do I have right to express feeling, do evaluation of the services which my family offers to me?
Do I have right to choose my fit clothes with suitable colors or parents more older more we aware of my needs?
Do I have freedom of speech to comment on the division in order to move to a new city?
According to what standards my captain decide to put me in specific position inside the field? I'm still feeling not comfortable!
Someone will answer with mad face "These is exaggeration and overstatement, how kids could can understand financial issues and deal with all colors of stress?"
Let me answer simply, it's your only fault, go and talk to them explaining in clear and simple way all updated situations caused what we are now, relieve your stress through your kids particularly there are stakeholders and beneficiaries you are working for them
These questions just examples to can light our track!
Let's move to School, there is no doubt Educational process is mutual environment where we can compare notes and exchange views to improve our Education system to achieve prosperity, sustainability and entertainment for students
School is golden opportunity to plant values, principals and ethics inside kids to grow up
Democracy now became one of the most essential value we would like to be firmed, that's possible through creating simulation for our outside community, let's enable students to choose their leaders by themselves, to have power of accountability to settle all responsible and evaluate all whole procedures.
It doesn't mean that engaging with public Events is not as much as vital, definitely it's important but ordinary we pay attention for level of participation related to public Events like political parties, voting in public Elections
Democracy it's not occasionally Events, democracy is regular practicing concern about all our daily details.
Now let's take a look at Youth in our current World, The world’s youth population is at an all-time high, at 1.8 billion people aged 15 to 29 (1), Large category with large hopes!.
Lets know that question which was previously asked in a Flash Euro-barometer survey “Youth on the Move” (No 319a) in February 20115.
"Involvement in a sports club is the most popular activity among young people".(2)
There is a need to cultivate a culture of democratic participation, especially among young people. Young people nowadays are equipped with equal and better opportunities to access information and gain knowledge about the concept of democracy and politics. This equal opportunity stretches out to participation of youth in democratic decisions like taking part in elections. However, even with the above given advantages that the youth have their interest in taking part in democratic matters is still lacking.
Today's young people have lower levels of trust in formal politics and are less likely to see political parties as viable avenues for affecting change. At the same time, globalization and increasing availability of technology has provided new ways for young people to connect both locally and globally. As a result, many young people are turning to social movements and other less formal means of civic and political participation. This section includes resources related to youth and social movements. There are various reasons why youth choose to boycott partaking in democratic decisions. The disappointment with politics, the mistrust towards political parties and the complexity of democratic decision making process is creating this negative attitude among youth. They grow up seeing how the world turns out because of politics and most believe their efforts will not be even be recognized because they believe the system is corrupt. Problems related to or that arise from politics around the world dampen youth participation. Many countries still do not have fair elections to this day and that adds salt to the injury. Relevant stakeholders, governments, NGOs, NGOs especially youth organizations and private sector, all are aware of the existing need to improve the participation of young people in democratic decision making processes. Governments still do not recognize the value of youth in sustaining and strengthening democracy. Democracy can only be sustained if all stakeholders and everyone concerned can pro actively foster and maintain democratic values and structures. Democracy has to be instilled at a very young age so that young citizens of the world can have internalized democratic principles and they can grow up to be young adults who are empowered to make responsible decisions.
Taking action to engage youth with democracy can: (3)
Help ensure better political decisions and actions – as young people are best-placed to express experiences unique to them
Strengthen understanding and action for democracy and human rights.
Empower and protect young people – including by realizing the fundamental democratic right of participation.
Promote the well-being of young people and development of their skills and experience.
Have a positive impact on eradicating poverty and hunger and achieving international development goals.
Promote peace, manage conflict and foster transition to democracy – as young people can help build bridges across communities and contribute to more just and peaceful societies.
Again, Democracy is regular practicing concern about all our daily details.
